Aria (Week 37) and Avalon (Month 38)

Hi all,

Week 37 was a great week!

During this week, ARIA STARTED TO CRAWL AND STAND UP!  What a great and exciting thing to watch her accomplish!  She loves to stand, and will pull herself up and then stand for 10 minutes or longer.  Avalon is pretty surprised at Aria's new ability to move around.   Aria is 8.5 months old now.

Aria loves the musical instruments!  I think it's great since they are such creative toys.  Avalon used to love to play with them, but had since lost interest....but now that Aria wants to use them, Avalon is playing with them every day now, too.  :)

Avalon had her third visit to the dentist this week.  It was her 6 month cleaning appointment.  In the past she loved the dentist, but this time she decided that she did not want the dental hygienist polishing her teeth.  She let it happen for about 2 minutes, then she held her hand over her mouth!  She let the dentist brush her teeth and do a little cleaning.  When we checked out, she said to the receptionist "Could you put me down for the dentist next time?  I like Dr Tehrani, but not the girl" (the "girl' was the receptionist!  Ha!).

This week was super special as it was my third Mother's Day - and my first since becoming the mother of two.  It was a great day.  We met some friends at Tanaka Farms in Irvine where we took a mini farm tour and got to pick strawberries.  I made yummy strawberry shortcakes that night, as well as some strawberry preserves.  Mmmm....  I think going to the strawberry farm on Mother's Day might become a tradition for us.  And, if you are in SoCal, I highly recommend Tanaka Farms.  It's worth a visit!

Happy Mother's Day to my mom and John's mom!  Hope that you felt loved and special!  We love you!

With my girls....I am so lucky!

All our love.

Aria (Week 36) and Avalon (Month 38)

Hi all,

Week 36 brought Aria much closer to crawling, but not quite doing it yet.  She is trying so hard...lots of determination in that little girl!

Aria still loves to eat.  She wants to be a part of mealtime much more than Avalon wanted to.  Aria gets very vocal if she thinks that she is missing out on something good!

Avalon is happy that Aria is able to "play" more.  However, since Aria can now drag herself around in the livingroom, she is able to get to Avalon toys...  Avalon is not thrilled about that, and so she spends a lot of time yelling "ARIA, NO!!!!"....hmm, we are working on getting her to stop doing that...ah, the challenges of parenting!

I think that both girls are so photogenic.  It makes me laugh when I pull out the camera, because she both start posing!  Even at 8 months old, Aria knows how to show her best side to the camera!  Of course, Avalon has been perfecting her smile for years.  :)

Hope that Spring has sprung where you are and that your home is as happy as ours.

All our love,

Aria (Week 35) and Avalon (Month 38)

Hi all,

Week 35 was mid-April, and we were lucky enough to have my mom visiting us for the week.  The girls loved it, and it was great for me to get some mom-time, too!

We did all of our usual activities, plus a birthday party or two, some gardening (thanks mom for helping with all of those weeds!!!!), and lots of fun at home.

We went to Avalon's ballet class, where my mom got to see Avalon run wild!  True, it was not Avalon's best showing in class.  She was too excited to do anything besides run in circles and try to take other kids down to the floor with her.  Whoops...I know that she will do better next time.  :)

We also went to story time at the Redondo Beach library, which both girls enjoyed.

Avalon's favorite South Bay park is Valley Park in Hermosa Beach.  Avalon always has so much fun playing on all of the big toys there.   This time Aria went for a ride in the swings...her first time "playing" at Valley Park!

We did some relaxing at the beach, too.  My mom and Avalon went for a swing...

One of our neighbor's - and Avalon's friend - turned three!  He had a fun party at a place in El Segundo  where they have big bounce houses and slides.  John took Aria down a huge slide (scary!) but she seemed to like it.  :)

My mom played all kinds of games with Avalon and Aria.  Avalon especially loved it and was so bummed out when Grandma had to leave!

During Week 35, Aria was getting soooo close to crawling, but couldn't quite do it yet.  She was also trying hard to pull herself up.  It's so great to watch her try and learn such big things!

All our love, xo
