Aria (Week 40) and Avalon (Month 39)

Hi all,

Week 40 brought a lot of playing at home!  Since the girls had been quite sick, I didn't want to take them out too much.  Luckily they are feeling much better now.

One of the greatest thing about Aria's recent developments in crawling, is that Avalon and Aria are now really playing together.  Aria loves crawling into the "kids corner" and dumping toys everywhere!  Avalon says "we are making a mess, Mommy!!!!!"  It is so funny...

We got some cute little sling back outdoor chairs for the girls.....they think that sitting in the chairs is so cool! Definitely worth the $15 per chair!  Now we will all have right-sized chairs for sitting in the backyard this summer.  :)

Avalon always had a great time playing with musical instruments...but after a while, she lost interest.  But, Aria is so excited about the instruments, so now Avalon wants to play them all the time, too.

Aria is 9 months old now...what an amazing thing to watch her grow each day.  And Avalon is becoming a little lady.  Yes, she is just three, but she is such a complete person now, so uniquely herself, we are in awe.  We are so in love with these little creatures!  They are so amazing, so special, so precious.  We are the luckiest people in the whole world!  Thanks for coming along with us on this wild parenting ride.

Aria (Week 39) and Avalon (Month 38)

Hi all,
<./br>
Week 39 was Memorial Day weekend and we were happy that John took Friday off work, so we got a four day weekend.   Unfortunately, both girls got sick...colds that conveniently came with eye infections and ear infections.  So, our plans to barbecue with friends were cancelled, but we still had some fun on our own.

We went back to the California Science Center, where we went with Avalon a couple of months before Aria was born.  We had fun in the kids exhibit rooms, where the girls were able to touch and play with things.  We also checked out the Rose Garden, which was all in bloom and was so pretty.  Avalon ran through the bushes and Aria tried to eat some petals.  :)

Aria sat on the Big Wheel!  Pretty funny watching her try to ride...Avalon showed her what to do on her trike.  Later in the day we also got Avalon to give her big-girl bike a try again.  She has been a bit afraid of it since it's debut when John let her crash (oops!!!) - but with mommy by her side she was feeling confident and did a great crash-free job.  I think this summer she will be riding the big girl bike all the time!

Happy Memorial Day to all of you!

Aria (Week 38) and Avalon (Month 38)

Hi all,

Week 38 was exciting...Aria's crawling progressed from crossing the floor with ease to also crawling up the two stairs between our living room and dining room!  Avalon didn't try that trick until she had been crawling for a few months...but Aria is less patient when I walk into the kitchen and she needs to race over and see what I am doing.  :)  It's very cute, but has caused some additional baby proofing!

Aria is still loving to stand up.  She pulls herself up onto everything now and holds tight.  She can keep standing for a long time, unless Avalon knocks her over!  We have to keep reminding Avalon to be gentle!  Aria really cries when Avalon pushes her away, I think it's because Aria loves to be with Avalon SO much...

We had some fun at the beach...John brought his fishing gear, although the fish weren't biting.  Avalon and I ran around in the sand, while I wore Aria in the carrier.  Avalon wore her little wetsuit from her friend Emma for the first time.  It was a perfect fit and helped to keep her warm as she jumped in some little waves.

We celebrated the first birthday of Nash Erickson, the son of some good friends.  The girls had a lot of  fun, especially singing along with the kids musicians that they had at the party.

I can't believe that we are only three months away from celebrating Aria's first birthday.  It seems like she just joined the family, but her tiny baby-ness is fading away and she will be a big girl before we know it.  I'm filled with joy and some sadness too thinking about that.  Time sure does pass quickly.
